CLOSURE LOCATIONS:
• Westbound U.S. Highway 50 to the northbound I-5 connector and auxiliary lane (lane #4) from 10 p.m. Friday, May 6 through 5 a.m Monday, May 9.

All lanes and ramps are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, May 9.
DETOURS:
• From westbound U.S. Highway 50 to northbound I-5,
continue westbound on U.S. Hwy 50 (over Sacramento River) keep right and take the eastbound I-80 Reno (EXIT 1A).
• Access from northbound I-5 to J Street off-ramp,
#1 option: use prior exit at Q street off-ramp (EXIT 519A)
#2 option: continue northbound on I-5 to Richards Boulevard off-ramp (EXIT 520), stay in the left lane and turn left at Richards Boulevard and turn left onto southbound I-5 to J Street off-ramp (EXIT 519B).
Motorists are encouraged to use Interstate 80 as an alternate route around the construction work zone. Motorists choosing to use I-5 during the partial closures should expect delays and plan for additional travel time.
Motorists should be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area.
The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph through the construction zone 24/7. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be patrolling the project site and ticketing motorists who are not adhering to the posted speed limit signs. The closures and speed-limit reductions are necessary for the safety of motorists and workers. Please “Be Work Zone Alert.”
Nearby residents can expect loud construction and commercial truck back-up beeping noises during day and nighttime hours.
Crews have built sound walls and completed the new Casilada Pedestrian Overcrossing as part of the project and are now working to repair 67 lane miles of Interstate 5, build 23 miles of carpool lanes, and improve the existing electrical and drainage systems along this corridor. The project is expected to be completed by later this year.
This $370 million project includes $48.3 million in funding from Senate Bill (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. SB 1 provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies.
